Caring for your jewelry
Your handcrafted jewelry is made to be worn and enjoyed. Over time, silver, brass, copper, and bronze naturally develop a patina, which is a soft darkening of the metal that many people appreciate. If you prefer a brighter finish, it can be restored with gentle cleaning.
Sterling Silver
Store in a dry place, preferably in an airtight bag or jewelry box.
Remove before swimming or using household cleaners.
Polish with a silver polishing cloth as needed.
For heavier tarnish, use a mild silver cleaner according to the manufacturer's directions.
Wearing your silver jewelry regularly can help keep it looking bright by reducing surface tarnish buildup.
Brass
Brass naturally darkens with time.
Clean with a jewelry polishing cloth or a polish made for brass.
Avoid prolonged contact with water, perfumes, lotions, and cleaning products.
Store in a dry location when not in use.
Copper
Copper develops a rich natural patina over time.
To restore its shine, polish with a jewelry cloth or use a cleaner made for copper.
Keep dry and avoid exposure to chemicals such as perfumes, lotions, and chlorine.
Bronze
Bronze will gradually develop a darker patina with wear.
Clean with a polishing cloth or a cleaner formulated for bronze or brass.
Keep away from harsh chemicals and prolonged moisture.
Store in a cool, dry place.
About Skin Reactions
Some people may notice a temporary green mark on their skin when wearing copper, brass, or bronze jewelry. This is a natural reaction between the copper in these metals and your skin’s moisture, oils, or products such as lotions and perfumes. It is harmless and can be easily washed away with soap and water.
General Care
Put your jewelry on after applying lotions, perfumes, or hairspray.
Remove jewelry before swimming, showering, exercising, or doing household chores.
Wipe your jewelry with a soft cloth after wearing to remove oils and moisture. We use Sunshine Cloth for each metal type.
Store pieces separately to help prevent scratches and reduce tarnishing.
